The Birth Perspective Journey
£395.00
Personalised consultations with experienced NHS midwives — giving you the time, space and insight to prepare for your birth.
Our signature service for women who want dedicated time to explore their birth preferences, understand different birth environments and feel prepared for the realities of navigating maternity care.
Our NHS experience gives you insight into what those environments can actually feel like — and how maternity care works in practice.
Our consultations are tailored to you, your pregnancy, your preferences and the questions you want answered.
We don't tell you how to give birth. We help you understand your options, explore different possibilities and feel more prepared for whatever your birth brings.
We want you to feel prepared, not alarmed.

The Birth Perspective Single Consultation
£175.00 | 60 minutes
When your birth plans change, you don't have to navigate the change alone.
Sometimes pregnancy doesn't go exactly as expected.
Your circumstances may change. You may be offered an induction of labour. You may be advised that your original place or mode of birth is no longer recommended. Or a new medical or pregnancy-related complication may mean you suddenly have questions you hadn't expected to be asking.
And suddenly, the birth you had been preparing for feels very different.
Our Single Birth Perspective Consultation gives you dedicated time with an experienced NHS midwife to step back, understand the possibilities and think through what matters to you now.
This consultation may be right for you if...
-
Perhaps induction wasn't part of your original plan and you've been given a recommendation to consider it.
We can help you prepare by discussing:
Why induction has been offered, based on the information your maternity team has given you
What questions you may want to ask your maternity team
What the induction process may involve (personalised to the hospital that you are booked with)
Different stages and possible pathways
Pain relief and comfort measures
Monitoring and mobility
Your birth preferences during an induction
What may happen if labour progresses differently than expected
How your birth partner can support you
Our role is not to advise you whether to accept or decline an induction.
Instead, we'll help you understand the information you've been given and prepare for a more informed conversation with your maternity team.
-
You may have developed a medical or pregnancy-related complication, or been told that your pregnancy now requires additional monitoring or a different approach to birth.
You might be thinking:
“Can I still have the birth I was hoping for?”
“What are my options now?”
“What questions should I be asking?”
“What happens if my plans need to change again?”
We can give you the time and space to explore those questions.
We'll focus on your birth preferences, the information you've already received and the possible pathways your maternity team has discussed with you.
Where clinical decisions are involved, we'll help you to identify questions to take back to the professionals responsible for your care.
-
Vaginal birth
Exploring what a vaginal birth may look like within your current circumstances, including how your existing preferences may fit into the plan and what factors your maternity team may be considering.
Caesarean birth
Understanding what a planned caesarean may involve, what your preferences might look like within that pathway and what questions you may want to ask your maternity team.
Vaginal birth versus caesarean birth
If you're being asked to consider the relative benefits, risks or implications of different modes of delivery, we'll give you time to explore the information you've been given and identify the questions that matter to you.
We can discuss topics such as:
What your maternity team has recommended and why
The information you have been given about vaginal and caesarean birth
Benefits, risks and considerations discussed with you
What each pathway may involve
Recovery and the early postnatal period
Your birth partner's role
Pain relief and comfort
Your preferences for the birth environment
Skin-to-skin and feeding preferences
What questions you may want to ask before making decisions
How your preferences might change depending on the mode of birth
We don't tell you which mode of delivery you should choose.
Our role is to help you understand the information you've received, explore what matters to you and prepare for an informed conversation with the clinical team responsible for your care.
