My midwifery experience

BSc (Hons) in Midwifery with Registration as a Midwife, King’s College London

I have worked across NHS maternity services for 6 years at a busy Central London hospital, with experience in antenatal care, triage, labour ward, birth centre and postnatal care.

I’m particularly passionate about bringing a birth-centre approach to care, even within an obstetric-led setting — creating an environment that feels calm, personal and supportive, while still providing the care you need.

Different levels of care don’t have to mean giving up on the birth experience you hoped for.

How Birth Perspective was born

I particularly love follow-up appointments. They’re often when you get to know a woman, understand what matters to her and have those deeper conversations about the birth she is preparing for.

I also understand the reality of NHS care. With clinical assessments and safety checks to complete within limited appointment times, the “birth plan conversation” can sometimes be squeezed into the final 10 minutes of a 30-minute appointment.

I wanted to create a space where birth could be the focus of the appointment — where there is time to ask questions, explore different possibilities, talk through preferences and simply have the conversation without feeling rushed.

Sometimes, you don’t need more information. You just need more time to talk about it.

Outside of midwifery

When I’m not working as a midwife or with Birth Perspective, you’ll usually find me at the allotment. I have a real passion for gardening and growing — although it doesn’t always go to plan!
