My midwifery experience
BSc (Hons) in Midwifery with Registration as a Midwife, King’s College London
I have worked across NHS maternity services for 8 years at a busy Central London hospital, with experience in antenatal care, triage, labour ward and postnatal care.
One of the things I value most as a midwife is really listening to women — understanding what matters to them, making sure they feel heard and advocating for their preferences as their birth unfolds.
More recently, I've experienced maternity care from the other side, having welcomed my own baby.
My birth began in the birth centre environment I had hoped for, but circumstances changed and my care moved to the labour ward. Experiencing that transition personally has given me an even greater appreciation of what it can feel like when the plan you had imagined needs to change.
It also reinforced something I have always believed as a midwife:
The environment you create around your birth matters — but that environment isn't defined by the room you're in.
Why Birth Perspective?
Through Birth Perspective, I want to help women think not only about the birth they hope for, but about what matters most to them wherever their birth takes place.
Plans can change. Your preferences can adapt with them.
And having thought about those possibilities beforehand can help you feel more prepared if your birth takes an unexpected turn.
For me, it's about helping women feel listened to, supported and confident that their voice still matters — even if the plan changes.
Outside of midwifery
When I'm not working, most of my time is spent enjoying life with my new daughter. I love keeping active and I'm particularly into fitness and barre classes.
I also love travelling, discovering new places and experiencing new things — although adventures look a little different these days with a little one in tow!
