Real midwives, real experience. Your birth, your perspective.
Because preparing for birth deserves more than a quick conversation.
Birth is one of the biggest experiences you can prepare for — but finding the time to really talk about it can be difficult.
Routine NHS antenatal care is there to provide essential clinical care and support. But appointments are often busy, and there isn't always the time for a detailed conversation about what birth might look like, what your options are, what matters most to you, or what happens if things don't go exactly to plan.
That’s where Birth Perspective comes in.
We created Birth Perspective because birth preparation deserves time.
We are a team of experienced NHS midwives who have worked within maternity services and understand the realities of birth from the inside.
We know that every pregnancy is different. Every woman has different hopes, concerns, experiences and priorities. And while you may have an idea of how you'd like your birth to be, it's also important to understand the different possibilities along the way.
We believe that understanding the possibilities can help you feel more prepared — whatever direction your birth takes.
Birth Perspective gives you dedicated time to explore all of that.
Not a generic antenatal class.
Not a one-size-fits-all birth plan.
And not someone telling you how you should give birth.
A personalised conversation with experienced midwives, centred around you.
Birth Perspective does not replace your maternity care.
We don't provide your clinical antenatal care, make clinical decisions about your pregnancy or tell you what choices you should make.
Instead, we complement your existing care by creating dedicated space for a deeper conversation about pregnancy and birth.
Your maternity team provides your clinical care.
We give you the time and perspective to prepare for your birth. If you have any concerns about you or your baby’s health, please seek medical care by calling your local maternity unit that you are booked with.
Your maternity care remains at the heart of your pregnancy.
