My midwifery experience
BSc (Hons) in Midwifery with Registration as a Midwife, King’s College London
I have worked across NHS maternity services for 6 years at a busy Central London hospital, with experience in the community, homebirths, labour ward, birth centre and postnatal care.
Since returning from maternity leave, I work mainly within the community, where I love getting to know women throughout their pregnancy and creating space for the conversations that matter to them.
I also have a particular passion for birth-centre care and its focus on calm, individualised support, movement and creating a positive birth environment. I believe that same ethos can be carried into obstetric-led care too. Even when additional monitoring or intervention is needed, there can still be space for comfort, movement, your birth partner and the preferences that matter to you.
Why Birth Perspective?
Having recently had my own baby, I've also experienced maternity care from the other side. My labour began in the birth centre — a calm, midwifery-led environment that was very much what I had imagined for my birth. In the later stages of labour, circumstances changed and I was transferred to the labour ward, where the environment, monitoring and approach to my care naturally felt different.
Experiencing that transition myself gave me a new perspective on just how significant a change in birth environment can feel, particularly in the moment. It also reinforced that moving to a labour ward doesn't mean everything that mattered to you beforehand has to be left behind.
There can still be space for calm, comfort, your birth partner and your preferences, alongside the additional care you may need.
Through Birth Perspective, I want to help women feel prepared for those different possibilities — not because we expect plans to change, but because understanding what might happen can make a change of plan feel less unfamiliar.
Outside of midwifery
When I'm not working, life is all about spending time with my fiancé, our daughter and our dog. I love the simple things — getting out for long walks together, spending time with family and friends, and enjoying the busy, happy chaos of family life.
